Prison Ministry

Prison MinistrySaints Peter & Paul Catholic Church began it prison ministry in the early 1980’s. Work was begun at Metro Correctional Institute (CI) on Constitution Road when the men were still being housed at Metro CI. Around the year of 1993, the Metro CI became a women’s institute. Later, it was named Metro State Prison (SP) when the Department of Corrections changed the names of all CI’s to SP’s.

Some of the former members of the Prison Ministry group are David Kukielski, Bob Henry, Rudy Price, Deacon Alfred Mitchell, Charles Bell, Betty Pothier, Es Dorsey, Sr. Alice Marie Daley, Ron Gauthier, Fr. Austin Fogerty, and Greg Pecore. Our presence has a long history at Metro SP. When Metro SP became a women’s unit, we continued. Saints Peter & Paul’s Prison Ministry is one the few religious ministries that continues to serve.

Mission

Our mission is to bring the love of Christ to the imprisoned. We share The Word, pray, and bring Holy Communion to those imprisoned.

Activities/Upcoming Events

We go to the prison on Thursday nights. There are five other units in our parish boundary that need to be served. Only two Parish members regularly serve at the present time, and additional volunteers are urgently needed.
