Evangelization Ministry
History of the Evangelization Committee
The committee started in 1983 under the direction of Fr. Ray Haran.
The primary goal of the committee was outreach to inactive Catholics to nurture them back into the faith. The IHM sisters were instrumental in helping with this mission and often accompanied committee members on home visits. Soon after, the committee widened its focus to include ministering to active Catholics and took on such activities as welcoming new families and conducting the parish census.
The committee also adopted the idea of creating cluster communities within the parish based on postal zip codes. Various activities were coordinated that addressed both the spiritual and the social aspects of the SS. Peter and Paul community.
Mission
The committee has evolved over the years and taken on new roles indicative of the times. Key activities now included visiting the sick and homebound, coordinating the Prayer and Praise celebrations and conducting meditation programs such as Centering Prayer and Days of Reflection.
Activities/Upcoming Events
The committee is a part of the Parish Council and meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm in the Parish Center.
